Office Hours: Monday-Wednesday, Friday 8am -4 pm, and Thursdays 4 pm-8 pm.

I am delighted to be your teacher and hope to impress upon you the importance of  learning about our Earth and its systems.  Living on the West Coast, we are so fortunate to be surrounded by wild natural beauty all the time. Throughout the course we will be looking at issues that I find truly fascinating.  They include: sustainable agriculture and forestry, contemporary environmental challenges, human health and the environment, conservation of energy and natural resource management.

Much of our learning will be discussion board based with some project based learning through assignments.  I encourage you to post a short introduction to the group on the discussion board.  Details can be found in Unit 1 Lesson 1.

About me: One of the themes that will weave its way through some of our discussions is the idea of keeping things local. My husband and I have 3 children (soon to be 4) and we work to grow most of our own food on the 5 acres we live on.  Any surplus we sell at the local market in the summer.  It is something that I am so passionate about that I would advocate for anyone to start growing some of their own food.  Here are some pictures of our last summer’s bounty!

Looking forward to learning and leading your through some of these compelling and intriguing issues that face our planet at this time!
